How it works
Our process
Getting started with EST is simple. Here's what to expect from your first enquiry through to your first session.
Book a free 15-minute consultation
We start with a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to understand what you're looking for and whether our services are the right fit. There's no pressure — just an honest conversation about your student's needs, goals, and where we can help.
We match you with the right tutor
Once we understand your student's needs, we carefully match them with a tutor based on a range of factors — including subject expertise, learning style, year level, and personality. We take the time to get this right.
Not the right fit? No worries at all — simply contact EST and we'll happily match your student with a tutor that suits them better. Getting this right matters to us.
Your tutor gets to know your student
In the first session, your tutor will take the time to understand your student's current level, identify any foundational gaps, and begin building a personalised learning plan tailored to their goals. From there, every session is structured with purpose.
We grow with your student
Learning is a journey, not a destination. We regularly review progress, adjust the learning plan as needed, and keep communication open with families. The EST team is always here if you have questions along the way.

EST only takes on students that are able to do a minimum of 1 hour lessons, weekly. We do not provide fortnightly or ad-hoc tutoring. This is because we believe that consistency is essential to seeing progress and improvement. However, we are happy to tailor lessons to the individual needs of each student if they need more than an hour.
For any students that are taking Extension 1 and Extension 2 English and Maths in Yr 11-12, lessons must be a minimum of 2 hours as tutors need to cover through and assist with a larger amount of content.

Yes! During the last 5-10 minutes of a lesson, the tutors can provide some updates on the student as well as answer any concerns or questions you may have. If there is not much to update you on, the tutor may give you a quick follow-up.
Our tutors can also provide any notes about the lesson using our TeachWorks system which will be directly sent to you after each class.

We mostly travel to North-West suburbs, Hills, Ryde and the Upper North Shore or Northern suburbs. If you are not located in any of these suburbs, that is fine! Give us a contact anyways as we have a variety of options available.

If the tutor is not the right fit for your child, thats okay! Sometimes the match just isn’t right because every tutor and every student is different. While we take great care in matching the student with a tutor that will fit their personality, goals and needs, sometimes it may take more than one try to find the right tutor.
We value honesty and collaboration so if the tutor isn’t the right fit, get in touch with us again. We will listen to any feedback you may have and will try to provide you with a different tutor that is a better fit for your child.

We do provide OC and Selective Preparation for students if you are interested in taking the exam! Depending on your goals and challenges, we will assess what will be the best way forwards for your child to to achieve their goals and strive for their own personal best.
Ideally, if you or your child are determined to perform well in the OC or Selective test it is best that the student starts at least a year in advance to adequately prepare for the topics.

Do your tutors support students with diverse learning needs?
Yes. Supporting students with diverse learning needs is something we take seriously. Every tutor in our team is trained in inclusive education practices, giving them the tools to adapt their teaching style, support different ways of learning, and help students build meaningful study skills alongside their academic content.
Our tutoring support is focused on what happens in the classroom and beyond — helping students access course material, strengthen their study strategies, and develop greater independence, and confidence in their learning.
For students who require more intensive or specialist support — such as those working with occupational therapists, speech pathologists, or specialist educators — we recommend engaging the appropriate professionals who are trained to meet those needs. We are very happy to complement and collaborate with any existing support team a student may have.

Do you support gifted and talented students?
Yes, and it is an area we approach with great care and enthusiasm. Our tutors have a solid understanding of gifted and talented learners — including on the misconceptions that often follow these students, and are trained to provide support that genuinely reflects their abilities and potential.
We provide accelerated learning, personalised learning plans, and appropriately targeted challenges designed to extend each student's thinking and keep them intellectually engaged. Our approach goes beyond content delivery; we focus on enrichment that broadens perspectives and deepens critical learning.
We also recognise that gifted and talented students face a distinct set of challenges. Without the right level of stimulation and support, many gifted learners disengage in the classroom environment, which can contribute to underachievement in their later years — an outcome that does not reflect their true capability. Through consistent, one-on-one personalised sessions, we work proactively to sustain engagement and build the study skills and life skills that underpin long-term success.
Every gifted student is different, and our tutoring reflects that.
